THe hottest technology of the century

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME A HOT TECHNOLOGY?

Unfortunately, as one leading analyst recently put it, being "hot" is no guarantee that a technology will succeed. Also needed is backing by the industry's top vendors (incumbent and start-ups alike), significant development dollars and revenue potential, and the ability to generate more than just a buzz in the industry (a.k.a. hype). The technologies we've chosen all have these characteristics in common.

To gain a larger perspective on the technologies on our master list, we asked a dozen of our favorite analysts for their opinions and, as usual, they didn't disappoint. The Top 10 list this year is a little heavy on the optics side, but it's tough to ignore a market that has garnered such incredible interest and has such potential for increasing the capacity, reach and economics of service provider networks. New twists on incumbent technologies also show lots of promise. Here, in no particular order, are Telecommunications'(r) picks of the 10 hottest technologies of 2000:

1. Soliton

2. Passive optical networks

3. Voice over DSL

4. Time Division Duplexing

5. Tunable Lasers

6. Optical Domain Service Interconnect (ODSI)

7. Synchronization

8. IP VPNs

9. Gigabit Ethernet

10. Very-short-range optics

1 Soliton: Barging Ahead

The concept is more than 150 years old, but it could revolutionize optical networks. Although not without controversy, some vendors are looking to solitons to build the next generation of dense wavelength division multiplexers (DWDM) that can operate over longer distances and provide higher-capacity channels. Solitons are pulses of light that keep their shape even after colliding with one another. This phenomenon was first observed by a Scotsman, John Scott Russell, as he rode alongside a barge in a canal in Edinburgh. As the barge came to halt, he noticed that a large solitary wave, after colliding with other waves, continued for several miles without losing its shape.

Although work with solitons began a quarter-century ago at Bell Labs, advances in DWDM technology have overshadowed this research. Now some companies such as French start-up Algety Telecom are convinced soliton DWDM systems will solve the problem of chromatic dispersion, or the broadening of a pulse of light, in DWDM networks. Algety, which has its roots in CNET--France Telecom's R&D unit that is credited with being the first to transmit 1 Tbps over 1000 km using soliton technology--plans to have a beta version of a soliton-based DWDM system before the end of the year. The company is particularly interested in the U.S. market and will soon be establishing an office in the States, According to Jereme Faul, Algety's vice president of software strategy and development, while there might be some debate over whether solitons are necessary for 10-Gbps wavelengths, 40-Gbps and higher wavelengths demand the use of solitons.

However, officials at Cisco Optical Networking Group (formerly Pirelli Optical Systems), have rejected solitons for high-rate systems, although MCI conducted a successful trial in 1998 using Pirelli's soliton-based DWDM systems that transmitted four data streams at 10 Gbps each. Stuart Woods, North American product marketing manager for the Cisco group, noted that soliton uses the return-to-zero (RZ) modulation format, whereas network devices such as routers, ATM switches and SONET equipment are based on the nonreturn-to-zero (NRZ) scheme. "Once you go down the path of RZ, you're automatically closing yourself to being interoperable," he said. According to Woods, neither distance nor faster channel speeds require the use of RZ. Moreover, a move to 25-GHz channel spacing cannot be done with solitons because a soliton has wide pulse. According to Woods, what exist today are not true solitons but dispersion-managed solitons that require properties in the fiber to tweak the pulse so it holds its shape. "Dispersi on-managed soliton is what we used in the trial [at MCI]," he said.

Rick Barry, chief technology officer for Sycamore, takes issue with such criticism. Barry said that there is "overwhelming agreement" that dispersion-managed soliton is the choice technology for next-gen, ultralong-haul, terrestrial systems. Addressing the objection to the RZ format, Barry said: "Most routers use NRZ because NRZ is simpler and routers were not designed or required to transmit ultralong-haul distances. The interface between the routers and WDM system will convert the NRZ format to the RZ format. This (approach] separates the design of the routers from the design of the WDM system." Algety received a vote of confidence on the technology in March when a second round of venture capital funding raised $31 million.

The potential of the Internet remains tied to solving the issue of the last-mile Bottleneck. While much attention is being given such broadband access technologies as DSL, cable modem and wireless, often overlooked is the passive optical network (PON) despite indications of a fast growing fiber access market. Communications Information Researchers (CIR) estimates that the combined fiber-to the carb/fiber-to-the-building market in the United States will jump from about $800 million this year to approximately $1.8 billion in 2004. PON technology which only came to public attention last year, provides a straight-forward way for facilities-based service providers to support customers' multi-service needs.

Beware! Video Game era is shrinking

The video-game industry saw its first sales decline since March 2006, primarily because of the lack of a blockbuster game on the scale of last year's "Halo 3," a market researcher said Friday.

Sales of games, excluding PC games, consoles, and accessories fell 7% in the month to $1.27 billion from $1.35 billion in September 2007, NPD Group reported.

Yahoo aims at mobile developers with an open developer platform called Yahoo Go. World's coolest bluetooth headset, live from the Consumer Electronics Show. Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies introduces water-powered fuel cells that can generate enough power to recharge cell phones, music players, and even laptop computers.

"This is the first true monthly decline the industry has experienced since March of 2006," NPD analyst Anita Frazier said in an e-mailed statement. "It's important to keep in mind, however, that this month's 7% decline is against a month (September 2007) that itself was up 75% from the prior September."

The big jump last year was driven by Microsoft's "Halo 3," which broke records in becoming one of the top-selling video games of all time. The title, exclusive to Microsoft's Xbox 360 console, posted sales of $170 million the day it was released and more than $300 million in the first week. It also broke records for online play with more than 2.7 million gamers logging in the first week.

Even without a "Halo 3," industry sales so far are 26% ahead of the same period last year and are on track to reach $22 billion or more. "Overall, the health of the video-games industry remains quite strong despite the rocky economic conditions," Frazier said.

Whereas 35% of last year's game sales came from "Halo 3," this year's revenues are spread a bit more broadly with seven titles achieving sales of 250,000 units, compared with three in 2007, NPD said. Among the most successful games this year is "Rock Band 2," which achieved sales of more than 360,000 units just on the Xbox. Sales are expected to remain robust, given the release later this year of versions for Sony's PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 and Nintendo's Wii.

While PC games are not included in the NPD numbers, Frazier pointed out two titles worth noting. "Spore" achieved sales of 406,000 units, and "Warhammer Online: Age Of Reckoning" reached sales of 274,000 units. The numbers placed both games in the top 10 list of combined console, portable, and PC games sales for the month.

Revenue from consoles was flat in September, because of lower prices, NPD said. The average retail price of hardware across all platforms was down 8% from a year ago. Price cuts, however, spurred unit sales. In dropping Xbox 360 prices, Microsoft saw a 78% increase in unit sales from the previous month.

"This increase, despite the acceleration of economic turmoil during the month of September, is a solid indicator of the health of the industry heading into the holiday season," Frazier said.

Global Wireless Broadband : Next mobile generation for IIUM Community

wimax.jpg

As we can see our mobile service today has equipped with the latest technology embodied. Application like MMS, email , mobile web browser (firefox), video call, Fixed mobile convergence (FMC), mobile extension, could deliver easily via 3G. Everybody could run all of these application as long as they are within 3G coverage. Limited coverage right?.... Well after the GPRS (40kbps) evolve to egde (300kps) , then to 3G (2MBps) , and then HSDPA (3.6Mbps), the next generation (4G) of mobile network would run at least 300Mbps. Using what ?...They call it as Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMax).

Future Laptop: How it is going to be?

Surprisingly if we can see today, a huge number of laptop user increase dramatically since last 5 years. What makes the laptop become more popular than desktop is about their mobility + price = really affordable. Even Today you can own a laptop only for RM 1,900.00. Really cheap huh…The different between laptops is on their performance capability. The higher features you require, the higher price it would be.

It is not about Laptop price we want to talk right now, but it`s design in the future. What it will look like? let see…..

CPU battle : Is AMD really going to die?

amd-fusion-for-gaming-small1.jpg

I still remember somewhere in middle of 2000 when I bought my first PC with my own money ( still 19 that time), the latest AMDk6-II 500 MHz. Really awesome. And I ran it with Windows 2000 (Win2k) since I still blind with Linux during that time. That was my first PC and I really love it. I don`t care if the blower make jumbo jet sound or even the CPU can cook egg 2 or 3 times as long as I can get rid of Intel PC (bad experience when my father bought me stupid 486 with win 3.1). As the time goes along, so do my PC as well, from Thunderbird to Sempron and the latest AMD Athlon X2-dual core (waiting for phenom X4 series ). All generation dammed good. Even the market penetration done by AMD (Anti- Microsoft Development ….heheheh) was very very great until the middle of 2006.

Windows 7 - New transform from slumpy Vista product or backward roadmap?

windows-seven.jpg

Microsoft has recently announced a new baby birth from Microsoft family, called Windows 7, which will be a predecessor for Windows Vista and Xp soon. Well, hearing this kind of thing would give a lot in mind. Why they have to come with new windows product very soon? Is the vista not good enough to sustain the requirement of global need? or the XP already run out of petrol so then they cannot boost further?

Google Chrome - Yet another stupid product from google ?

bill.jpggoogle-chrome-inside-out-2.jpg larry.jpg

When talk about google, just imagine a guy with huge money and with idiot vision and mission. I am not saying about google`s prime contribution towards helping billions of people searching what they are looking for, but when they got huge money in their pocket. But we have to bare in mind, people says idiot today but it will become brilliant tomorrow.

If we screen on the google history, on what their major development on the online services, we might think all the stupid habit that they have ( well at least at the first stage of development). Back to Google Docs, just imagine, who could write their P&C data online and keep it through online? And further more will become worse scenario if our internet connection is off, since only few has install dedicated network while others still depend on the trusted network (like my country - stupid streamyx, always cut off. also slumpy maxis and celcom broadband - really disappointing). Then, who should be blamed to? But that not an issue for google Docs when it has the capability the share our document online and present it online, while microsoft docs cannot. Google Web office will be a great compliment but not replacement to the Office service.

Sooner or later, everyone needs a document scanner around the house. It’s practical, and a huge relief for the paranoid. You even don`t need to harshly doing multiple just want to scan let say your important document from your boss. It`s still very rare today people use digital signature for their letter, instead they are more convenient to sign by their own original handwriting. And as for advance environment like IIUM wireless home, users might want to email document or fax it over IP just as fast as possible, without go through scanner box. For this solution, there is one mobile product which really can deliver a reasonable result if you wanna make it as a mobile scanner, Iphone.

Rival for nokia E90 - become reality?

A few months after nokia introduced his new ‘kid’, nokia E90, there was another family tried to give birth their new baby to challenge nokia E90. Unfortunately the family name in mobile arena was not so strong for this kinda challenge. But thats not an issue or even the purpose I want to share this product with you. Yeah it is look quite similir, much more smaller actually compare with E90, and it is called as Asus M930 communicator.

S60 for E90 - good time for platform migration?

As we can recall, I have shared my opinion on E90 physical design. Well,it is not really in detail but at least we can figure out something from it;reliability, durability, toughness, design architecture. etc etc.. Further discussion shall focus on the Operating System (OS) used to run this giant 'candy bar'. Still as before, they are really confident with their in house OS, Symbian 9.2 3rd Edition. The different is that this E90 is using S60 platform or user interface, as compare with other older 9300 and 9500 communicator, which are using S80 platform.

The future of Mobile OS - towards the end?

clipboard02.jpg

I still remember when I was chairing a kick-off meeting to start a program (university program) and ask a committee to call other who still not arrive. Guess what? he is smiling and show his "muka seposen" ( stupid face) and said " sorry bang, belum topup lagi la" ( sorry brother, no credit to call). Huhuhu! really stupid funny. I was using bloody old nokia 3310 and his was the latest model at that time, O2 XDA. Thinking of my self, with a very expensive PDA, yet cannot make a single phone call. What this kind of people looking for actually. Agree or not, nowadays, a lot of student own a stylish, up-to-date, elegant and expensive mobile phone yet still cannot make a call. Huh, what a pity.

Okay, done for my band intro, but I don't wanna talk about all the human behavior inside the campus by the way, rather just to share on the Operating system that assist each of your mobile to run all the services and application required. Well, either Symbian, or Windows mobile, or even blackberry , all of these OS are running on their own platform, which means they wont have the same table to eat. Then, the question is , which one deliver the best among the best platform for mobile phone?

If we can analyze a little bit further,

" mobiles in 2007 are like computers in 1984"

So is it possible to say that the Computer technology today will be our mobile technology for the next 10 years? Calculating with arithmetic, I thing this is much plausible. Lets have a look on the mobile OS's available in the market.

windows.jpg

Windows mobile -Slumpy giant of ignorant

Since 1990`s Microsoft drive well to penetrate into mobile OS market. Start with WinCE, the operating system stand behind windows mobile platform, they scatter into multiple main player. Namely on Handheld PC, PPC,MIRA, PULSAR, PEGASUS, WM5, WM5 media centre and the latest for Windows Mobile 6.2, undoubtedly Microsoft have tones of 'extra power root' to step more further onto this battle. Compare with other rivals, the most and greatest benefit that Microsoft has is that they are owning this mobile OS 'big brother' market, Windows OS. With that, they can easily slot huge requirement on proprietary integration between mobile phone and PC and you can see that is actually what they are doing today. Looking at the Windows mobile software, frankly speaking, if you are one of Microsoft die hard fan (with no fun), or people with anti-challenged IT legacy, or non-unthinkeable people, or even people who don`t really care about IT, it looks similar with application that you have with Windows. So, what is so special about Windows Mobile OS - The answer is none. What WinCE delivered to user is unusable and carshed out platform, which actaully like compressing the windows 95 interface into samll screen feature. It does not perform well even for the WM5.Always hang, slow performance, poor multitasking capability, poor battery life, and what I hate about is I have to use with microsoft`s software, especially Outlook. (Hehehe shuk, wak, syah, syazwan, edi, Jai better you check you phone). Thus, due to continous failure to integrate between microsoft`s fantasy and origami, they decide to come out with Ultra Mobile PC, a new double detached platform with windows NT, but minimized screen.

iphone.jpg

Apple - OS X new revolution

If you are a die hard fan of ipod or mini ipod, better you change to a new stylish apple product, Iphone (ni tepon kegemaran abu @ aeab). It works similar to Ipod, the only different is that you can make a phone call while you are having all Ipod feature. I would like to say that Iphone is new evolution of mobile phone technology. If Microsoft fail to carry their successful Windows NT technology into their mobile platform, Apple is otherwise. It share the same common from the Mac desktop version, both carry the same NeXT`s Mac/BSD kernel. Iphone is not just a simply standalone hardware device. Like I have said, it is an Ipod, and the main player is iTunes. Integration with iTune provide variety of advantageous in area of sync, software installation , music management, and simplicity. The fastest browsing speed with safari give uses the real experience when bowsing the "mini internet".But, there is some area that apple need to concern about. As I hate the virtual keyboard on PDA`s, same goes to Iphone too. The keys are too close to each other, more often than not you will type in a worng letter. This quite frustrating. Iphone have document editor, but it too simple, even it does not have copy/paste feature. Besides, the speaker also not so loud during phone ringing (need additional ext. sub-woofer to make it works great).

symbian.jpg

Symbian - Mobile OS leader and still become a leader.

If you talk about symbian OS, then nokia come out, ericsson come out. What is Symbian? Do you know that Symbian is actually a'cousin' of apple and linux?. Symbian evolve from the great great grandfather of OS, UNIX.The difference between symbian, Windows mobile, and Iphone OS X is that it is own by a phone company, nokia and the rest two owned by computer company.is it fair to compare?. It`s primary purpose is to serve the mobile application and here it is right now. This mobile covers around 75.6% of the world mobile population today. What a huge fan. Symbian platform is created based on EPOC architecture, which mainly based on C++ programming language. Differ with others, it run on two nokia platform; S60, and S80 (hahaha..sound like volvo series). . S60 is normally for the nokia smartphone, sony-ericsson PDAs, and used to be on motorola PDA.two major component for S60; security and performance. This platform offers high security level compare with other two and huge memory resources, which drive the application to works faster even in multitasking environment. While S80 will become a legend for communicator community since nokia decide to proceed the new nokia E90 with S6o platform. The only worry about the symbian is that the uncertainty about its future prospect. Whether it will become giant mobile market leader with Nokia or just having the same experience as palm OS.

Blackberry - Mobile Road Runner

This device is very focus. If you own a blackberry and you don`t what is 'push email', then you better re-sale your blackberry to lelong.com.my. Blackberry is well known for being the first wireless device concentrate on email. No one can challenge its excellent service on delivering email. While other phone company too much rely on GPRS, EDGE, 3G and HSDPA, blackberry only need any wirless network. It doesn't matter if you are in Europe, Asia, Canada, or at home, you can reach colleagues and respond to clients in real-time. Receive, read and forward email and attachments—all without lugging around a laptop or hunting for a phone jack.

BlackBerry combines Web browsing, wireless email, text messaging, calendar, contacts, tasks, and phone calls in an easy-to-use, lightweight handheld for virtually all communication needs. View attachments sent in Microsoft® Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; Adobe® Acrobat®; HTML; Corel® and WordPerfect® formats.

Get wireless email and real-time updates to your calendar while on the road. BlackBerry uses push technology, so you don't have to worry about synchronizing. Your BlackBerry receives email and appointments when you have network coverage. Best of all, your data has encryption and password protection.

Palm OS - The end of you jurney

Emm...This device I don`t know much, coz it is dying..heheheh (not much interest on it)

Conclusion

Which one you want to use? It is all up to you...

Psst: Since all other phone company has their own software. What will Samsung and LG do? The other two big mobile phone companies don't have coherent software strategies, as far as I can tell. They specialize in copying others -- Samsung copies Motorola and Nokia, while LG copies Samsung.Heheheheheheh (betul tak jai <---- LG die hard fan).

The investmenia development

I started to become interested in investment when a friend of mine gave me a book title " rich dad poor dad' by Robert kiyosaki. It is about 6 month ago. Well, off course it was not attractive at the first time because I hate to read book. In fact, I could read around 1 or 1/2 book for every 6 month ( if lucky I have time). Huh...what the terrible I am...However, one day around midnight when I tried to read beginning of this book, WOW! amazing. It is telling a story. Interesting. Not like other books just telling the ideal, rhetoric, and all most fact appear on their book. Really interesting. I read every single page, which actually telling story about myself, as mirror, and it drives me to the different level of thinking.MAKE MONEY!. But how? they cannot give birth by themself. How? Yup...let them work for you to find another partner to work for you. It is call Money worker networking. ok then....will come back on my PARADIGM SHIFT chapter soon.

1. model : Nokia Morph 9898i

morph_sm.jpg

One of the most striking concept phones we've seen is Nokia's Morph. Made of flexible materials that mimic the suppleness of spider's silk, the handset will -- as the name implies -- morph between what looks like a traditional mobile phone and a bracelet. Tapani Ryhanen, head of strategic research at the Nokia Research Center in Ruoholahti, Finland, calls Morph a shape shifter.

2. Murazzo X-trailz M2

handphone_sm.jpg

Handphone's microphone is shaped like a ring and slips on the end of your pinky. The speaker is another ring that slips on your thumb, and a circular phone controller and radio sit on the back of your hand, held on by elastic string at your wrist and middle finger. Anyone who's ever motioned toward their mouth and ear with outstretched fingers to imitate making a call will know how to use Handphone

3. P-Packet 9988IOI

pper_sm.jpg ---------> packet_sm1.jpg

The Packet is deceptively simple. Fold open the top and bottom squares and it's like a traditional flip phone with a speaker and screen at the top, a microphone at the bottom, and dial pad in the middle. But when it's time to write an e-mail or surf the Web, you fold open all of the phone's edges to reveal a cross-shaped smart phone. There's a split keyboard at the sides, a pointer at the center and a screen at the top for viewing e-mail, Web browsing or anything a smart phone can do.

4. EMWave 793XU

atlas_sm.jpg

Tomorrow never die. In one way, it's like the self-winding watches of the 1960s -- it's got a built-in series of weights, rotors and springs that generate power whenever it's shaken or moved. That power, in turn, runs a generator that charges the battery.Other creative approaches to power are also emerging. For instance, a recent patent granted to Apple points toward a unique approach to a solar phone. The device's screen would generate power with invisible photovoltaic layers that would gather the sun's light -- or a room's artificial lighting -- and turn it into electricity.

Dynamic tower; powered by sun and wind

Italian architect David Fisher is building his first skyscraper, the Dynamic Tower, and it happens to be one of the most ambitious construction plans since the Pyramid of Khufu. Every floor of the 80-story self-powered building rotates according to voice command, and nearly the entire structure of the $700 million building is pre-fabbed. I caught up with the architect in New York, and he blew my mind again and again.

Fisher was inspired to design the Dynamic Tower during a visit to a friend's top-floor Midtown Manhattan apartment. "I had a view of the Hudson River and East River at the same time, it was beautiful and I wanted to make that feeling accessible to more people." He loves the idea of seeing the sun rise and set in the same room, and considers the building to be four-dimensional. "Time is always changing the shape of the building," he told me.

The rotation takes up to 3 hours (so you're not always spilling your coffee), and gets power from photovoltaic solar cells and 79 wind turbines, one located between each floor. The system is meant to create enough energy to power to the entire tower and still have juice to spare for some surrounding buildings. According to Fisher, two of these $700 million futuristic scrapers are planned so far, one each in Dubai and Moscow. They will be built using a truly radical technique.

Construction on the Dynamic Tower will be unlike anything that preceded it. The only part of the tower built on site will be the skinny center core. It is strong enough to hold the floors in place, and will con

tain the building's elevators, which transport people and cars right to their door. Each floor will be made piece by piece in a factory in Italy—a throwback to Fisher's previous life in prefabricated bathroom design—and placed onto the core using a lift system. With this method, each story is completed in about six days. By comparison, traditional ground-up methods can take six weeks per floor.

Groundbreaking for Dynamic Towers in Dubai and Moscow is expected to happen in the fall, with construction reaching completion by the end of 2010. If you're game—and very, very loaded—you can sign up now for a villa or office space. The going rate is $3000/sq foot.

So cheap aaa you iphone 3G...why?

I can bet you that most of people league in this world would be very surprise to hear that apple will come out with their latest model , iphone 3G, only for USD199. Hey, can you believe that? Is if they are trying to import hug recon product from china and reassemble to become great warrior of apple kingdom. To save etheir repo actually.

Just imagine la. compare with HTC Touch diamond (USD 786) or even nokia N96(USD 855), apple model is far more cheaper than these two. Huh, mcam bagi barang lawya jek...

There are two main reasons Apple can charge so little for the new iPhone.

First, mobile phone service providers will subsidize the handsets by paying Apple about US$300 per unit, iSuppli estimates. The other reason is the low cost of materials going into the handset.

Apple did such a good job choosing components for the new 3G iPhone that it costs less to make than the old version, despite significant improvements, iSuppli said. The old iPhone cost $226 to make and did not include 3G nor GPS (global positioning system). Yet Apple sold the original iPhone for $499 initially.

The most expensive component on the 3G iPhone is the 8G bytes of NAND flash memory storage, at $22.80, followed by the touchscreen at $20, iSuppli estimates.

In all, the chips and other components in the handset add up to $164, and then iSuppli estimates Apple is paying another $9 for assembly of the device, for a total of $173.

Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry, the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer, is making the new iPhone at factories in China.

The market researcher calls its estimate a preliminary one based on a "virtual teardown" of the new iPhone. The estimate is based on information available about the new handset. Once the 3G iPhone is on the market, iSuppli plans to open one up to figure out the make and model of each component inside, to more exactly determine the cost of the handset.

The initial estimate also does not include the cost of software development, shipping, distribution, packaging and accessories included with each iPhone.

memang le kalau kat US murah..pastu bile sampai sini..huhuhuhu...mau jejak RM 30000.oo. yela...goment nak makan tax sikit..kastam nak makan tax sikit...tuh....si ananda krishnan tak masuk lagi...huhuhuh...macamana la kawe nak tuka handphone baru kalau macam nih...nasib baik handphone tak on(start) guna petrol....kalau tak...gelak abih le petronas....bonus leh cecah 18 bulan ...huhuuhhh

Try this; you might have huge petrol saving

Well… Maybe not exactly that good but lets see what we can do

Can you afford not to drive? Most of us depend on cars for some part of our daily lives. By using some easy Hypermile (or fuel efficient driving) tricks you can beat your car’s EPA rating and save some dollars. Here are ten easy things you can do to boost your MPG…

10 Hypermile Tricks:

1. Use Lighter Grade Engine Oil

imageUsing more viscous engine oil (10W- 30, 10W-40) may not mean better lubrication. The thick oil may not penetrate all the small spaces in you engine and requires more energy to push it around (think Syrup vs KY). Go for the 5W-30 or less.

2. Lose the Extra Pounds

All the junk in the trunk means your car (like your girlfriend) has more to pull around. For every 100lbs of stuff in your car you lose 1-2% fuel efficiency. This one’s easy; you don’t need the ski boots, wetsuit, and mountain bike for visiting grandma at the nursing home.

3. Idling is Negative MPG

I often thought it took more gas to start the engine than to let it idle. Baloney. Turn the car off if you will be stopped for a few minutes.

4. Make Your Ride Sleek

image Take off the roof rack or bike rack; it’s costing you 5% from your MPG. If you use it on the weekend, put it on during the weekend. Check out Ecomodder.com for some more aerodynamic tricks to make your ride less of a drag.

5. Brake Less

Every time you put on the breaks you have to eventually gas it again. Look ahead, plan, and pace so you get the most out of your accelerations. Don’t race 200yds to the next stoplight.

6. Skip the Premium Octane

Most cars can run on the minimum rated octane gas. Using higher ratings will cost you more and will pollute more.

7. Slow Down, but Not Too Slow

imageMost highway MPG rating are based on 48-60mph speeds. We all go faster than that (except for that guy in the passing lane going 45mph with his blinker on for 50 miles). Driving 70mph instead of 55mph can cost 17% loss in fuel economy.

8. Get it in High Gear

If you have a manual car, get it to your cruising gear without tachin’ up the engine. Try to shoot for the low end of your RPM range, shift sooner, and cruise in a high gear to keep your car from the gas sucking RPMs.

9. Use the Cruise

Using cruise control whenever possible will mean your acceleration and speed maintenance will be more efficient. Also, using the built in acceleration button will allow you to gradually speed up, which is more efficient than crushing that pedal down.

10. Beat the Congestion Waves!

imageStop and go traffic is killer on gas. By anticipating rush hour stop and go waves you save for yourself and maybe even those around you gas (not to mention your sanity).

Want to save more money, gas, and reduce emissions at the same time? Don’t drive at all! Bike it, walk it, run it…even rollerblade it around town! Also, check out public transportation options.

Do we really realize on this?

huh..really tiring. Thinking of the current scenario in my beloved country, Malaysia. It is kindda tsunami which is trying to hit not only to the ground, but also to the top of the current elected government, Barisan Nasional. Really surprising. Everybody talk about their defense. Try to be very stronghold on the ground that they are standing right now. Well, I am not going to be biased or participate to any of side of those parties, rather just trying to give my own opinion on what happen to our beloved country, Malaysia. Just after general election anything has changed, not anly dramatically, but also drastically. On the UMNO side, they trying so hard to kill each other (between party members i meant), though they strongly deny that (huh, like you old folks try to explain to a group of syndrom-down boy).UMNO as the party leader in Barisan Nasional still cant understand the real politics. They still fighting in their dream. Well, I dont to talk so much on MCA and MIC because I can say they well manage their party though they lost majority of their support among people. Okay, come back to UMNO ( which I mean Paklah, Mahathir, Najib and Anwar Ibrahim).
Heheheh.. why I should say Anwar is part of UMNO. I believe that yall already heard the rumous about possibility fo anwar to join back his black pearl in order to lead the ship.hheheh...I dont want to drag on that issue, you can think by your self. The real fighting actually between UMNO and PKR, while others, huh waiting you both to die la....hope UMNO can think deeply why they lost in huge amount, and not only to stand on the stupid position as if you are dealing with slumpy and immatured group.Look at MCA, MIC, DAP, PPP, they dont have major conflict of interest, and even they have, they try to settle down professionally. Just put aside PAS for the moment because they are the universal not like others.
Huh.. I dont know until when this scenario will end. Maybe after september, which has been claimed by DS Anwar.maybe after Mahathir satisfied with his agenda, or maybe after malay people realize that they have shown their stupidness for the sake of power they fight for.

Just the beginning; Shadow will follow you

For the very first time people talk about themself. They are affraid of being chased by someone who they do not know the identity, why and what for chasing them so hard. keep chasing them no matter where the are going. Only stop when blacky has come. It is all bout yourself. Self arrogant, self stupidity, self ignorance and , too many bad self attitude toward ourselves that we cannot see from our blink of eyes.

People rather talk about others no matter how bad they are actually. They try very hard to push their guilty, madness, and even also their stupiduty to other people. As if they are all correct.

So please, check our inner side first before we talk about others.
